Lifestyle
You can almost always find me with another oval butterflyfish. When we choose our partners, we will stay with them for life. Together, we will defend our home from other fish. During the day, we are active and looking for food. At night, we will rest and hide underneath coral.
Fun Facts
I am a beautiful butterflyfish with lots of colorful stripes! We butterflyfish are known for our beauty and our graceful swimming. My body is not just beautiful, though. It also helps keep me alive! I am very flat and I can dart quickly in and out of small holes in the coral to escape from predators.
Menu
I am a very picky eater; I only eat coral. But I would never eat an entire coral colony at once! I only take a few bites from each coral colony. That way the coral has time to grow back, and I will always have food. Because I only eat animals, I am a carnivore.
Threats
People hunt me to sell for aquariums, but I don't make a good pet. Reefs are in danger, and that means so is my home!
