Hold me close. Teach me to feel. Your braided hair is so long, so coarse. My fingers long to touch it yet again.
I want to learn to walk barefoot in the grass, my heart needs the warmth. Teach me to sing the note of a thousand words.
Your dark hands engulf mine. The rings on your fingers tell a story. The orange glass for your long lost innocence, the black pearl for suffering. Your eyes gleam with sadness but your smile never betrays me.
Oh, Mazuri, show me the world.
You taught me to run through golden fields. You let me kiss the sweet earth and taste the bitter rain. You gave me the red sun, you let me talk to the moon. You gave me a star, you let it shine forever in the late summer sky.
I hope to fly as you do. Your wings brush my face, letting me sense freedom once more. You brought the color into my cheeks and the red into my pale lips.
Your wrinkled skin is as lovely as leather. Your very scent clears the world from my thoughts. Your black eyes drive the night away. Your smile is the dawn.
Take my shoes and burn them. Let me feel the heartbeat of humanity through the broken rocks. Let the thunder draw me near you yet again.
Let my feet carry you wherever you desire, my arms will hold the sky for you. I'll run with you into the endless trees. Together we'll be the river and travel the world.

The shells from the ocean create your bracelet, the African flowers create your necklace. The red clay dyes your clothes.
