Something had a firm hold around my throat, and it tightened. I felt a warm hand on my chest, breaking each of my ribs one by one. I howled in agony, letting it take over my entire body. I felt it penetrate my heart and wrap around the charm. "No!" I screamed. I screamed and wriggled, and I heard the tinkling of the chain on my charm. I was supposed to give this charm to my soulmate once I found him, and he would wear it around his neck. If he were human, wearing the charm would make him immortal. I screamed again as I felt a new pain, a sharp pain that faded into throbbing and went back to the sharpest shooting pain. I was screaming like a banshee, but I couldn't stop. I shrieked and shot fire in every direction I could turn my injured neck. Warmth washed over my body, and then a stinging sensation tingled through my veins. I opened my eyes and blood washed into them, sending waves of panic through my body. I saw it bite my charm, my sparkling charm, and it started to fade. I shrieked and then fell still and silent. I was losing this fight! It was like I was being taken over entirely by darkness and pain that was going to take me to a new level of misery.

Monique

Pain shot through my entire body and I knew that I was going to have to leap. "Adrian!" I gasped, grabbing my stomach. I hadn't even started to show! What was happening to me? "Shh!" He hissed, deep in thought. I knew what was happening, but not to me. "Alice!" I gasped angrily. "Alice, where are you?" I thought. "Dying, thanks for nothing." A wave of shock washed over me and took me down. "Adrian! Now!" I screamed angrily. "What's happening to you?" He asked me calmly. Too calmly. "I don't know!" I shouted angrily.

He lifted me into his arms and leapt out of the window, keeping a nice grasp on me. He took flight before he hit the ground and sighed. "I love you," He whispered to me. "I love you too. Drop me," I managed to whisper without my voice cracking. He was over the cliff and he held me tightly to him. A final embrace? I closed my eyes and kissed him, maybe for the last time. Then I felt the air whipping past me and I opened my eyes to see him still flying. I clenched them shut again and screamed. "I love you," I thought for the millionth time. I turned around to face the ground as I fell, and I shielded my face to prevent any further injury. I felt Adrian's shield over my face as well, and I released my hands. "Breathe out!" He shouted, and I obediently did. Then I felt the rocks beneath me, and I heard the two heartbeats stop.

"Adrian," I moaned. He was at my side, tenderly picking me up and holding his head to my stomach. "Now I can work," He muttered. "Hold on tight," I whispered. Then we were in the bedroom and he put me softly on the bed. "Just watch. I expect you to be able to do this if we want more," He instructed. I sat up and propped myself up against the wall, still weak from the fall and the initial shock of it. I saw the fire, the blackest of all fires, surround him and nearly swallow him. "The border between life and death," He said, motioning his hands to the fire, keeping his eyes clenched shut. "Come in it, you'll see our- - What?!" He panicked in mid sentence. "What are you freaking out about?" I asked in a panicked tone. I leapt into the fire and clenched my eyes shut. I looked about and saw three beautiful infants. Two of which were very bold and realistic. One of which was fading. Two of them were pretty little girls, the two who were Celeste and Stella, the ones Alice sensed. The third was unknown, not moving, just there.

"How did Alice not sense a third baby?" Adrian thought. I couldn't just sit there. I leapt to the other side of the barrier. "Monique! Come back here!" Adrian screamed at me angrily. "I can't!" I picked up Celeste and Stella very tenderly and ran back quicker than ever before. "Find his soul!" I hissed at Adrian. "I'm trying! Maybe he didn't have one to begin with since I can't sense it!" He shouted back. I froze up. "Monique, come back here now. You don't want to stay dead, do you?" He whispered calmly. I floated back, lifelessly and broken. "I'm sorry," He whispered. I saw a tear slide down his cheek and I knew he meant it. "We have to go back, I'm getting weak and if the barrier closes while we're here, we're all dead, including Alice." I held my twins firmly to my chest and leapt out of the fire. Adrian followed and stared at them. "They're beautiful," I said softly. "Who is Celeste and who is Stella?" He asked me. "You can't read their minds?" I asked. "Nope," He said, popping the P. "This is Celeste," I said, motioning to the baby on my left arm, "And this is Stella," I said, motioning to the baby on my right. "Fraternal twins. Stella looks like Alice, and Celeste looks like. . . A mixture between the two of us," Adrian muttered. "Agreed," I said, handing him the twins. Suddenly, it clicked in my head that we had no Alice. "Alice!" I gasped. I turned and ran out of the door, Adrian easily catching up to me. "Where did her scent go?" Adrian asked quickly. "I don't know! I don't smell anything but. . ." I stopped and sniffed the air, then the ground. "Demon." Adrian looked at me and handed me Celeste. A long, drawn out howl echoed from the woods, and I took off running after Alice. She was still my baby girl!

Adrian put Stella in my free arm and pulled Alice up into his arms. She screamed and tears of blood streamed down her cheeks. "No! Stop, it hurts! Daddy, it hurts!" She screamed. "Monique, please!" Adrian begged, tears welling in his eyes. A single tear streamed down my cheek as I held Alice's hand and she stopped fighting. She breathed out, and didn't take another breath.

I had killed my little girl.
