I ran just as fast as I could,
wind floating leaves all around me, 'cause I just didn't think that I should
hang to let you free.

And the passengers all seemed to laugh,
as I stumbled and fell far behind
the seat that was taking our past
and the one thing that kept me alive.

Oh, I ran, ran for my life
and I gave up on everything else
'cause I needed the light of your eyes
to give me some hope in this hell.

But you fled from the train station
with a single, blank look back
as I drank in the desperation
that left me cold and cracked.

And the whistle blew out high
to say the game was done
and another dream had died
at the train station.

Oh, I ran, ran for my life
and I gave up on everything else
'cause I needed the light of your eyes
but I could not escape from this hell.
