We all have that one friend. The friend that is all spoiled and gets everything they want and don't appreciate anything. Well I have that friend.

Spring break. The farthest place I went all spring break was the local animal shelter to volunteer. We were planning a trip to go into the city about four hours away, but my dad didn't get any time off with his work so we had to stay home yet again.

All of spring break passed and just two days of freedom were left. We were planning to go to the hot springs that day, just an hour away. I phoned all my friends trying to find one that was able to go . . . none were. As a last resort, I phoned one of my good friends, but one I really didn't want to see over spring break.

The phone rang once, rang twice, rang four times. I was sure by then that no one would answer, but then just before it went to the answering machine, there was her voice and accepting my invitation to the hot springs. Oh great.

Now you are probably wondering why the heck I don't want to see my good friend over the break right? Well it's because she is super spoiled.

She is that girl you see, who has new shirts all the time, has all the latest technology, and doesn't appreciate it at all.

I sound kind of jealous right? Well I am. Not of the clothes, technology, or other stuff. None of that. I've always put up with it, until, two weeks before spring break she announced that she was going to Hawaii.

Most of you would be happy for that person, and slightly jealous of them too. But you see, that hit a nerve for me. I've been dreaming to go to Hawaii since I was little. I was obsessed with the ocean, and still am (hence my username).

She bragged about going, who wouldn't, but I was fine with that. It was when she said something negative about going to Hawaii that I snapped. The quote that made me snap was, "It kind of sucks going to Hawaii though, because my parents are going to make me go snorkeling with fish. I hate fish."

That made me think that she was unappreciative to be going to Hawaii at all. If I went, I would love every minute of it, all it's flaws, and all it's beauty.

During the drive to the hot springs, that was all she was taking about. Her trip to Hawaii and how wonderful it was, and it simply sickened me to hear it. I have to feel happy for her though, she got the experience I've always wanted, but I'm only thirteen. It doesn't mean I will never go there. You never know what the future holds.

Us being human, we tend to compare what we have, to what others have. We just need to remember what we do have and be thankful for it.

And try not to get jealous like me.
