Author's Note: Okay, so I said I was going to discontinue the series. As much as it hurts me to do so, I'm going to finish this series. I'm not quitting on this series until it's complete.

Alice

I felt a grin of satisfaction cross my face as I darted back to Mom and snatched my father's charm off of her neck. I ran instantly, knowing that she would come reclaim it. I dashed to Joshua's home, getting all of the money, credit cards, and checks I could grab and shoved them into a backpack. I had to run away with the charm, and hide it so she wouldn't ever be able to bring him back. Joshua's charm lay broken, glistening softly in my bag. "Soon enough," I promised him, "Soon enough."

I flew for hours until I landed in a small village in China. It seemed remote and unlikely, so I stared at a beautiful little girl, obviously not of this village. She stared up at me in wonder, and in perfect English, no accent at all, spoke to me. "You're not human. You're far too beautiful," she whispered. She looked beautiful enough to be my daughter, with light brown eyes and tanned skin. "You're right," I said with a smile, in a far too innocent and far too attractive voice. I reached my hand out to her, beckoning for her to come closer. She did, her hand touching mine and there was an immediate gasp from both of us. She was a slave here, an orphaned girl from America. Nobody looked for her, nobody came. The humans thought she was dead. They thought she perished with her parents. And I knew I had to take her, and make her part of the Living Dead so she wouldn't suffer anymore.

I held her hand as we walked, looking for more children like her. I touched each child's hand, shaking it and letting her speak fluent Chinese to each of them. We found no other slaves like her, just children who were working for their parents. She finally leapt onto my back and I dashed off, somersaulting and flying into the air like it was nothing.

Three children. A mother of three, I thought to myself. I held the child for a second after we landed outside of Joshua's home, and remembered Adrian's charm was in China now. I grinned and set down the girl, and she stared up at me. "I'm Alice. I'm sorry I didn't introduce myself," I said with a smile. "Alice, it's a pleasure to meet you. I'm Aimee," she said. "Well, Aimee, would you like to stay with me? Like a daughter?" I whispered in my innocent voice. I couldn't leave her there, or just anywhere. She was just too sweet a little girl. "Yes," Aimee whispered. I couldn't deny this beautiful and innocent child. She would be a perfect addition to my family.

She just had to be a little bit more durable. "Aimee, I'm going to do something a little painful for you. I promise, it won't hurt for long," I said as I laid her on a bed in one of the many rooms in my home. She stared at me, wide eyed in fear, as I put my hand on her chest. She shrieked in pain, and I silenced her with the other hand. She went limp, and I felt her heart stop, and her ribs hardened to protect the charm forming in her chest. I felt the shock that tingled through her as she felt her heart stop. As her breathing slowed and stopped. And as her ribs made the startling cracking noises while hardening. All of her bones popped and finally, she lay still as I removed my hand. I watched her morph and become even more of a beautiful girl than anybody could imagine. Her long, black hair flowed thick, in curls down to her waist. Her eyes were even more beautiful than before, and she was just amazingly stunning. "Alice," she whispered, staring at me in wonder. "Thank you, so much," she said, "For making me so beautiful." I smiled and nodded, because she was seeing herself through my eyes.

Aimee rose up and I stared at her in amazement. She wore the world's most horrible clothes, and still looked amazing. I held Joshua's charm in my hand and placed it together and laid it on his chest for the time being. Aimee stared at him, breathless. "He's amazingly handsome," she sighed. I smiled and turned to face her. "He's my husband. And I'm bringing him back," I said, staring at her. "I love him and death won't keep him away from me unless he's dead like us," I continued. She stared at me in confusion. "Dead?" Aimee whispered. "Yes. You and I aren't of the living. I'm Demon and Living Dead. You're Living Dead. He was human and Living Dead."

Desiree and Joshua's heartbeats stopped. I felt the tingling from Desiree, and she was thinking she wanted to be just Desiree Matthews. Because of Aimee. I laughed to myself.
