Science World: Observe

SwtChick, reporting for duty....

I have a question for all of you who read the Whyville Times. What was Whyville created for?

Now, before I answer that, I will tell you that it was not created for chatting with your friends, but something different! Did you know that it was created to learn about science? I certainly didn't until a while after I came to Whyville. And, let me tell ya, most of us Whyvillians don't treat it as though it was created for science. All we seem to do is chat with our friends!

Have you ever even been into Dr. Leila's to look at the questions with meaning, as though you really want to see them? I haven't. I'm sure that most of you haven't, either.

Have you ever been in the Warp Wagon to learn about the places, rather than go for the clam showers? I dunno about you, but I certainly haven't.

Are you starting to see what I am saying now? Hardly any Whyvillians treat Whyville as though it was created for Science at all! We go on there to talk to our friends, play games, and virtually just have fun. I think that we should start looking at things as though they are related for science. Don't you?

I mean, have you ever thought that those games you were playing for clams were actually related to science? Look at all the time and energy that City Hall has put into this, and look at how we are treating it! I don't want to sound mean, but I just wanted to point out our feelings, for once and for all.

Thank you for your time, this is SwtChick and I'm out...

Science can take place anywhere. You can be doing science while cooking. If you are experimenting, then that is science.

Science is fun if you get to thinking about it. You can learn many things from science. Sometimes it's hard, but sometimes it can also be very easy. You can be dissecting something and be doing science. I love science and I think you should too!

If you really think about it, it's not so bad after all. You might say, oh no, it's science class or something like that, but don't think of it like that. Think of it as an advantage. You get to do science, not you have to do science.

I am not saying science is the most fun thing all the time, but it can be fun and interesting if you really get into it.

A few years back I dissected a flower. I know that isn't very gross, but who said dissecting had to be gross? Well, it's not! We dissected this flower in groups and I loved it. It was so fun. We like took it apart. It was so fun to do.

Thanks for reading,
