1. RECENT LAUNCHES
The New BBS -- A little over a month ago we published the new BBS! The boards are more organized and easy to access than ever before. Check them out at the newly-renovated Dr. Leila's, or use the thumbtack icon at the top of the screen!
New Skins -- We've added a number of new skins, including an Oldbie skin for those of you who ache for the old Groovy Bus. St. Patrick and Birthday skins were added in March.
New Newbie Tutorial -- We've recently updated the newbie tutorial to make it faster and more fun. If you or one of your friends is creating a new account, check it out!
Rate My Avatar -- If you logged in at all in the last couple of months, you're sure to have seen the new Rate My Avatar on the front page. Start rating now, and submit your own avatar for judging too!
WhyReef -- The new WhyReef and Reef Station launched recently, and both have been amazingly popular. If you haven't taken a look yet, make sure to check them out. You can access the Reef Station from the North & South beaches.
Club Teen Spirit -- If you haven't seen any Teen Spirit gift boxes around Whyville, you must not be looking! Pick up a box and enter the secret code at Club Teen Spirit to receive a free animated face part!
Microbe War Card Game -- Check out WHoI's underwater labs to play the new Microbe War Card Game! Collect Microbe cards around Whyville to score more points when you play!
2. RECENT EVENTS
Whville Birthday Party -- Whyville turned 10 years old this year! A month of celebrations was held, with special birthday competitions across the site.
Red Tide -- What is happening to the water in Whyville? Visit the Beach and take a sample of the water to help figure out what's going on.
Senate Inauguration -- Melsey6, CiaoBella, and DrTanner were inaugurated as the newest Whyville senators on March 18th! Congratulations!
First Senate Meeting -- The first senate meeting was held on April 1st, and was open to everyone. Thanks to all who participated!
Scion Car Rally -- Mon3ysign, kandy334, and bratz4809 were the top three scoring drivers in our most recent Car Rally, which was held on Friday, May 15th. As the drivers of the top scoring Scions, each has received the rare Scion Car Rally Trophy. Don't miss out on our next Car Rally, where you can earn clams and prizes!
Love/Hate -- The SparkTop Questionnaire is back as the Love/Hate game. Play today after filling out the different questionnaires!
Veteran Medals -- Medals went out in early April.
Easter and Earth Day 'hunts' -- Two hunts were held on April 12 and 22, respectively. On Earth Day, one month WhyPass were awarded as special prizes.
3. CURRENT/UPCOMING EVENTS:
A new Science Chicago room opened on May 15th! Remember, new rooms open each month and new SC cards show up all over Whyville. Collect SC cards and redeem them in the right SC room to earn clams!
Renovation -- The Airfield, Whyville Square, and other older areas of Whyville have gotten shiny new makeovers. Look out for them when you explore!
4. WHYVILLE PROJECTS
New Chat License Test -- Think the old chat license test is too slow? So did we! So we're making it graphical and a lot shorter. A safety test was never so much fun!
Flash -- Flash is getting ready to launch soon, which means no more loading screens and faster games. Hooray!
5. FUTURE PROJECTS
New BBS 2.0 -- Though we're hoping to have a new BBS working soon, we're also planning to expand in the future. BBS 2.0 will include rank and post count for each poster, sticky posts, ability to subscribe to a post/notification of replies via Ymail, search, and other functions.
6. REMINDERS
* If you don't have Pearls, get some today! For the cost of a couple candy bars, you can enjoy special Whyville activities like Pets, Chat Candy, and more. You can also sign up for a Pearls allowance and get new Pearls each month, or give Pearls as a gift. Right now, Face Factory Vouchers are on sale, so get 'em while you can!
* Need extra clams? Just a reminder that the Welcome Lounge needs Whyville Guides (WG). If you qualify, stop by the Welcome Lounge in the WhyHouse to join. You'll get a special WG hat, use special commands to conduct tours, AND earn up to 100 clams a day helping new citizens.
