Author's Note: We are finally here, part twelve! "A Second Chance" was the most fun to write, the most time consuming, and my fingers just seemed to know what would happen more than my head. So, I'm ending this series this week. I hope you all enjoy it!

Josh

I held Alice's hand, laying my head on her chest, knowing this was my own fault. "It's my fault, Alice. I'm sorry, Alice I'm sorry," I whispered, tears falling down my face. I moaned, I was too late. She was dead. I lost her, my sun and my moon. The love of my life, my reason to live. I ripped a hole into her throat and drank the poison into my system, hoping it hadn't lost it's potency so I could be with her.

Alice's eyes snapped open as she shrieked in pain, staring at me but not seeing me. I continued, but spat the poison out. It melted the ground where it landed, it was just that lethal. "Josh!" Alice screamed. "Yes?" I said, spitting out more of the poison. "Stay with me! Don't leave me," Alice whispered, eyes closed. In her mind, I heard her concentrating on the sound of my breathing. "Don't leave me, please, Josh. I don't want to live without you," she begged again when I didn't answer. "Please?" "Yes, Alice. I'll stay with you forever, I'll die with you, Alice. I'll never leave you," I whispered into her ear. She opened her eyes and stared into mine, seeing nothing but the truth. She pressed her lips to mine, and I couldn't deny her anymore, I loved her too much.

"I love you, too, Josh," Alice thought. I held the sides of her face gently, even though she was probably much more durable than I was. I couldn't stay away from her and she couldn't live without me. I moved my hands and wrapped them around her, pulling her to me, and breaking the kiss. I just held her, the cold ground didn't matter. "I love you, Joshua, I really do," she sighed. "I love you, too, Alice. More than anything else. I owe Evelyn Castanon for giving you to me," I whispered. "I'll owe her for eternity," she agreed. I lifted her into my arms as I stood up, and ran home.

Alice

Aimee, Desiree, and Joshua stood in front of the house, looking worried about us. I leaned up and kissed Joshua as he ran, and he crushed me to his chest. I sighed. "And you can't stand being around us?" Aimee asked Desiree jokingly. "Aims, leave Des alone," Joshua said as he poked a finger into her rib. She pounced for his throat and he caught her, kissing her lightly and setting her back down. Josh slowed down and I noticed a taller boy standing behind Desiree. He looked extremely beautiful, and looked better holding Desiree's hand. "Desiree's fiance`," Josh whispered. I nodded slightly. "He's a Demon. She's fine, he's just as indestructible as her," Josh added. I smiled. So we're even in numbers now. Josh nodded to my thought, laughing softly, and we were finally there. He set me down, gently, and stared at my family. "No wedding, we're subtle about this," Desiree said to me. I nodded and smiled. "I'm Alice," I said, extending a hand to the beautiful and tall man. "Pleased to meet you, Alice. I'm Marcus," he said, grabbing my hand. Desiree held his gaze for a moment, and I saw only love in both sets of eyes. They were exchanging thoughts. The other four darted out of the door, and when their footsteps disappeared, Josh threw me against the wall, and I saw silent rage burning behind his eyes. "Alice, how could you go off to die like that?" Josh was in front of me, towering over me. His lips crushed mine and muffled my response. "How could you believe I didn't love you?" Josh hissed when he pulled away. "I don't know. I trust you so much, I--" his lips silenced mine as he kept my arms pinned above me on the wall. I wasn't afraid of him. He could hurt me, kill me even, but he wouldn't do it. I liked this new side of him, his livid expression pressing me into silence.

"Alice, the fact of the matter is, no matter how often I say I don't love you, I never meant that! I love you, Alice, I love you more than you could ever imagine!" I stared up at him, blank with emotion. "Why are you crying?" Josh wiped a single tear that was streaming down my cheek away. "I love you, Josh, I really do. I can't stand it when you're gone, I can't live without you, you're like my Immortality Charm, which you coincidentally are wearing around your neck. So you own me, Joshua, you own my life. And I own yours. Don't leave me, you'll take my life away from me, Joshua. You'll take my sun and my moon," I whispered through my tears. Josh swept me up into his arms and just held me there, looking into my eyes as I stared up at his. Beyond words, I held the silence and his gaze, and he did the same. In his head, I saw the most beautiful wedding. Flowers fell from the trees and into the aisle. Joshua and I stared into each other's eyes and everybody I cherished watched breathlessly, staring at us, one of the most beautiful couples ever, as we exchanged our vows. "I do," I whispered breathlessly, pulling out of his fantasy, and he stared into my eyes deeply. "I do," he repeated. I clutched him to me as he pulled his lips to mine, the fantasy becoming real. We were standing together at the end of an aisle, hand in hand, finally married. A cherry blossom fell into my hair, and I gasped. "I've been practicing teleporting and look what it's done. I can make fantasy reality," he thought. I threw myself back into his arms, and everybody applauded. Married. Joshua. Love. Forever. Everything I had wanted and fantasized about, even as Evelyn eyed Josh and wrapped her arms around me, knowing he had done this. I laughed, and Evelyn hugged Josh. "May I have a dance with my brother?" Ev asked. I nodded, and Rowan eyed me. Rowan?! He beckoned for me, smiling, and we danced. I stared up at him, his Angelic beauty silencing me. I felt a wave of love wash over me, realizing that I r eally did love Rowan at the beginning of my immortality. I realized now that it hadn't mattered in the first place, that he wasn't as capable of loving someone who didn't belong, aside from Stephanie Evelyn Castanon. So we danced, and finally, Josh came and whisked me away. We danced, gracefully, sliding as if we were floating, and finally, he kissed me again. "Thank you, Mrs. Matthews. Thank you for everything that you've given me." Josh sighed into my ear. I kissed him on the cheek and a tear slid down my cheek. "Thank you, Joshua, for my happily ever after, for our children, and for you," I whispered back.

Desiree and Marcus. Joshua and Aimee. Josh and Alice.

The world's happiest ending landed around us like the flowers from the trees. We had all had a start that was too different to be safe, so we could be happy.

But we overcame those beginnings, and had great endings. Our lives were forever, our connections were forever. And the love that had brought us here would be beyond forever.

The End

Author's Note: I will be writing a new series within the next few weeks, I'm hoping to have my next series entitled "Blaze" in next week, and it ties together with everything else I've written for Creative Writing. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it's not a bust!
