Joe took my wrist and dragged me to his Mustang. Gage and Dave were already there, listening to inappropriate rap music. He pushed me into the trunk of his car. I screamed in pain. "Shut up Sadie," he murmured.

There was no way that I could break free, except if I found the emergency "free key" that I remembered Dad talking to me about if I ever got kidnapped. "That explains why he told me that, because I have powers," I whispered to myself. I felt around the truck, I couldn't sit up, so I just laid there. I put my hands on the "ceiling" of the trunk. I felt something sharp. A nail. I grabbed the nail and use it to damage the key hole and hoping to unlock it. Instead of unlocking it, I just damaged it. "Shoot!" I said loudly.

"Stop talkin' back there girl!" Gage yelled, his voice a deep bass.

"Yeah . . . Do what he says," Dave slurred.

I sighed. I put my hands on my head consecrating on Gage's brain because I couldn't get into Joe's.

"Gosh, I wonder where the chocolate is. I'm hungry. Maybe I could steal Dave's dollar bill and buy one at the gas station."

Ugh, Gage was no help what-so-ever. I went over to Dave's brain. Just bunnies and butterflies floating around in there.

"How can I get out of here?" I wondered. "Too bad Charlie wasn't here to help me." I put my hands in my pockets, hoping there was some paper I could rip up. Instead of paper there was a cell phone. I immediately took it out and dialed his number.

"Hey Sadie," Charlie's voice said. It was full of guilt. "Why are you calling me?"

"Help me! Some guys named Joe, Gage, and Dave have kidnapped me and my parents are being held hostage in the house. You gotta help me Charlie!"

"I can't Sadie. Good-bye."

"What?!?" I breathed into the phone, with no one on the other end.

I don't know when I fell asleep, but it must have been some time after Charlie hung up on me, because my cell phone was in my hand when I woke up. A bright light shone before my eyes.

"Rise and shine," Gage said while opening the trunk.

"No," I moaned, "I will if you take me back to my parents."

"No can do." Gage picked me up and put me in the fireman's carry, like when they take someone out of the flaming house.

"PUT ME DOWN!!" I screamed. I slammed my fists as hard as I could on his back. Kicking, biting--all I could do.

"Joe help me. She's killing me."

Joe came over to where Gage was carrying me and said, "Here this should help."

I felt a bang on my head, and then there was darkness.
