"I'm Alex, I'm 8 years old. i have Neuroblastoma and I raise money for pediatric cancer research with the help of other kids and grown ups through my lemonade stand. I give the money I raise to research to find cures for pediatric cancers." ~ Alexandra Flynn Scott. 2004.

The cure for cancer -- some people believe that the nation's medicare people know it, but are keeping it for pure selfish purposes. Others think that it lies deep inside the rainforest. And some people believe there is no cure for cancer. Yet, no matter which of these are true, we still carry on the search for finding it.

Throughout the nation, people go to dinners, races, or just donate money to help this cause. but what if to help, all you needed were lemons, sugar, water and a goal? Selling lemonade.

In the year 2000, a 4 year-old by the name of Alexandra "Alex" Scott decided that she would hold a lemonade stand to help her doctors find a cure for cancer, being a cancer patient herself. Alex and her older brother, Patrick, set up the first "Alex's Lemonade" stand in July of 2000.

During the next four years, Alex raised one million dollars to help fund childhood cancer research. On August 1st, 2004 Alex lost her battle with cancer at the age of 8. Yet, even though she is not with us anymore, her spirit still goes on.

Today many people around the country have lemonade sells in Alex's benefit. Over the past 9 years "Alex's Lemonade" charity has raised over $25 million to help fund childhood cancer research.
