If you often write in the BBS, I am sure you know what I'm talking about. Oh yes - disagreements. Panic swarms the BBS when people disagree and start arguing. Taking sides, defending one another, ganging up on someone, causing drama, and for no good reason, this is what I believe people do when their bored.

Now I know some of you reading this are thinking "It's just because people need to learn how to ignore and not be so defensive." And you're right! But not everyone is going to listen, and therefore it will always be a problem . . .

Another thing is that even when you try to reason with people, or have a discussion over a subject that everyone has their own opinions on, people don't have a open mind and always want to be right. Which even me myself has that problem, - the strive to be correct/right. There are 3 major opinionated subjects that seem to always start BIG disagreements: religion, government and abortion. People start those subjects saying their opinion and/or wanting other people's opinions, and then people have disagreements and then the whole thread goes crazy. People start disrespecting other users.

Even some of the time, the people trying to end the fights end up being rude/disrespectful themselves and don't even realize what hurtful things they say. The negativity has really grown in the BBS, there is not as many compliments as complaints. Which brings me to criticism and telling people what you think in a manner of not being rude or fully negative. Some people have truly seen how they can change, others - well . . . they probably don't realize.

I did not make this to complain, or to make myself look like I'm prefect - I made this to point out some things that could make people aware in the BBS of what they say, and what people perceive. Because it doesn't matter if the thread gets deleted, the people in the argument still have anger against one another and often head to y-mail to keep going on and on over such probably silly things.

Whyville is supposed to be a kind and respectful place for boys and girls. So let's be respectful to one another and think about that we say on the Internet before we press "send".

Thank you for reading!
