One more week, then it's here! What's here? Wow if you don't know you must be living under a rock! Halloween is here in less than a week! Halloween is a time when everyone dresses up and goes and gets candy from random strangers' houses. It's traditional. Here on Whyville we have our own Halloween traditions: Hauntington Mansion and the costume contest!

Every Halloween our wonderful City Workers put together this Halloween party for the citizens of Whyville. There are so many things to do in Hauntington Mansion but that's not what I'm here to talk to you about.

I'm here to talk about everyone's favorite part of Hauntington Mansion: the costume contest.

As you have probably realized, everyone gets pretty competitive during this contest. Everyone wants to win.

It's this competitiveness that makes some Whyvillians think it's okay to NOT dress up but to try get people to vote for them.

That's what irks me.

Sure there will be a few Whyvillians dressed up for Halloween, but the majority won't be! They just come in to the mansion looking how they always do, and they expect people to vote for them.

"I'll vote for you if you vote for me!"

That's what they say. Every year it's the same thing.

"I'll vote for you if you vote for me!"

I hate that sentence.

The worst part is, that most of those people end up placing in the contest!

As cowgurl said in 2000 in article id #418: "It turned into a contest of who could stay on all night."

That statement that cowgurl made is 100% true. Most of the Whyvillians stay on all day for as long as possible. Their goal is to get every single person they see to vote for them.

I hate it.

In real life, people don't do that! At costume contests in real life people actually vote for the BEST or MOST CREATIVE costume, not someone who looks ordinary.

Okay I'll give you an example . . . in real-life which costume would you vote for? The first or second image?

I'm guessing you would vote for the first one.

Now, which picture would you vote for in Whyville? The first image or the second image?

I'm hoping you would vote for the second one.

I encourage you all to get into the Halloween spirit and dress up if you want MY vote, now who's with me?
