If you like Greek mythology, then "Pandora Gets Jealous" is for YOU!

Pandora is a Greek teenager in school when her teacher announces each student must bring in something that relates them to the Gods. They will present their object in front of the entire school.

Now normally this would be no problem for Pandora Atheneus Andromaeche Helena because her father is Prometheus, the titan who restored fire to earth after Zeus took it away from people due to their lack of respect.

Zeus was enraged at this act and he captured and tied Prometheus to a mountain. Each day, a giant eagle would come and feast on his liver. But since Prometheus was immortal, his liver would grow back; meaning the torture would continue for the rest of eternity.

After a while, Hercules, Zeus's son begged his father to let the man go. Zeus's heart softened and he agreed. Once the chains were broken, Prometheus was summoned to the great hall of Olympus where Zeus gave him a piece of his own liver as a reminder to his punishment. He also gave him a tiny wooden box. He explained that each great god had place an evil in it, that if set free, would bring torment and sadness to mankind, forever and always. However, one good thing was put in the box from the god Athena, Hope. It was supposed to be a sense of comfort.

So, you see how easy this could be for Pandora, right? Just bring in her father's liver! But no, she'd already brought it in several times and she knew none of the teachers nor did students enjoy it. So, she turned to her last resort, the box.

Pandora had been informed about the box because when she was little she accidentally began playing with it. Thankfully, though, she didn't open it. Her father explained to her great torment was in it and she should never go near it. So, Pandora decided that she would "borrow" the box from her father and wrap it up. Then she would make sure it was not open.

But, after the presentation was over, two girls didn't believe Pandy. They said, "Oh let us see it and maybe we could get you into the party tonight!" Dumbfounded she let them take it and they opened the box up. A sudden mist came out and they turned into hideous horned creatures. Pandora had known the horror had begun. She grabbed the box and ran home.

Her mother and father were outraged and didn't know what to do. Just then, Hermes, the messenger of Gods said Zeus had called upon their family. When they reached Olympus, Zeus had said Pandora would have to capture the evils by herself, with no help from her parents. She had only a few moons and would NOT have any help from the Gods. But of course, Athena and a few other Gods were quite fond of Pandora . . . *wink wink*

So will Pandora rescue all of the evils or will she have to be tormented for eternity? There's only one way to find out -- read the book!

My Thoughts: This book is great! I was glued to it every second I could read it. Pandora is such a funny girl especially when she says, "Oh Gods!" instead of "Oh my gosh!: The book is very descriptive and taught me a lot about Greek mythology. Although at first I was a bit confused, the glossary at the end helps everything. The details make it easy to infer what the author is talking about. I would recommend this book to ages 11+ because of the names and other things that are a bit hard to read and understand. If you're younger than 11 and would like to read this book, go for it!

Romance: The book has a very mild romance where Pandora has a crush on a boy, but you don't hear much of that afterward, so if romance isn't your thing, then this book is perfect.

Action: This book has lots of action. One event that scared me the most is when Pandora meets a woman (I will not tell you who . . .) and a black-legged thing comes out of her mouth. I had such a horrible mental image of this, I could have puked!

Rating: I would rate this book 10/10. It may not be a straight 10, but it's so close by a fraction! Once again, I highly recommend this book.

In conclusion, "Pandora Gets Jealous" will make you sit on the edge of your seat. It might also leave you hanging a bit! *wink . . . wink . . .* HOWEVER! Do not and I repeat, do not read this in a car. I tried to and I ended up with a very bad headache. I guess the Gods were teaching me a lesson!

This is Cohenlm going to bake pancakes and bacon.

Author's Note: This book is a series. I also ended this early because some of you didn't want to know what would happen, like those who commented on my last review, "Coraline". Please tell me if this was better than the "Coraline" review because I very much like writing book reviews and may continue since I'm reading like a sewing machine! Thanks much!
