I know a lot of you ask the question, "How do you become a Times Writer?" In the past, we've never had a specific set of requirements to become a Times Writer. Many of you dream of becoming a Times Writer, but aren't sure how. Goals are great, and we want all of you to succeed. So, we've decided it is time to implement some criteria, so all of you aspiring Times Writers know what you need to accomplish.

To become a Times Writer:

1. You must have 20 articles published (each series will count as 1 article). 2. The articles must be in at least 5 different sections.

To become a Senior Times Writer:

1. You must have 50 articles published. 2. The articles must be in at least 8 different sections.

To become a Veteran Times Writer:

1. You must have 100 articles published. 2. The articles must be in all the main sections -- Interview, Help, Creative Writing, Science, Events, Fashion, People, Why History, Media, Hot Topics, and Entertainment

Also, Whyville Poet will no longer be a title given to every citizen who has a poem published. For your first poems, you will be a Guest Poet. In order to become a Whyville Poet you will need to have 10 poems published.

To become a Senior Whyville Poet you will need to have 50 poems published.

To become a Veteran Whyville Poet you will need to have 100 poems published.

I've also added a title for all of our comic writers out there. This genre has grown a lot in the past years and has a lot of followers. So we'd like to recognize those special authors.

To become a Comic Writer you will need to have 3 different comics published (each series will count as 1 comic).

To become a Senior Comic Writer you will need to have 10 different comics published.

To become a Veteran Comic Writer you will need to have 25 different comics published.

Now some of you have already earned these titles based on the above criteria. Based on the fact that we have had almost 11,000 articles published, I will not be able to go back and update your title on past articles. However, the above criteria will be put into effect starting with this issue.

If you believe you have earned a title above (and haven't already noticed the title change in this issue), please send me an email at times@whyville.net with the number of articles you have had published and the sections that your articles have appeared in. You'll also need to include the title of at least 1 article from each section you are using.

This is a very exciting time for the Times and I can't wait for another year of great articles. Look for more updates to come in the near future.

Happy writing,
Times Editor
