Back to 2010

Aidan opened her eyes to a white popcorn ceiling. She saw sunlight streaming through the window nearby. Could it be? Was she back in 1965? For the past few weeks she had been in a horrifying world very similar to her own. The similarities were she was in a hotel room with her mother and sister. The difference was everything had been altered. The people she thought were her mother and sister had completely different personalities. They thought Aidan was crazy for not knowing their "real names." They tried to convince Aidan her sister Katherine's name was actually Crystal, and that her name was actually Diana! Their appearances were altered too. Instead of the pleasant dresses and clean hairdos from 1965, they wore dark clothing and didn't take care of their hair. Her mother and Katherine also treated her horribly, as if she was as cruel as them.

The room they were staying at was filthy and had no furniture in it. Everywhere she went people were begging for food and money. Children screamed and cried from the aching empty stomachs and lack of water. It looked like nobody had taken bathes for months. Filth covered the ground, and food was so scarce you were lucky to have three meals a week.

Aidan's stomach growled as she remembered how sick she had felt. The girl looked around the hotel bathroom. It looked as if it had changed. There weren't green curtains and towels anymore. Instead there was cream colored decor. Aidan's heart started pounding. Something was not right here.

Aidan reached for the doorknob and turned it shakily. She peered out the door and hoped with all her might she would see her mother and her sister Katherine ready to give her huge hugs. She had missed them!

To Aidan's delight she did see her mother and Katherine. They were asleep. They looked different, but at least they were in beds and pajamas rather than on the floor in rags.

"Katherine, it's me Aidan! I'm home!" Aidan shook who she thought was Katherine excitedly.

"Leave me alone Nadia," Chelsea murmured as she rolled over, covering her head with a pillow.

Who was Nadia?

She decided to try to get her mother's attention.

"Mother, I'm home! I've missed you so much!" Aidan shook her mother and realized she had cut her hair!

"Mother you cut your hair!" Aidan exclaimed as Angela opened her eyes.

"Nadia you need to go back to sleep it's 3 in the morning." Angela opened her eyes slowly and was amazed at what she saw.

"Nadia Isabelle what are you wearing? This isn't 1950; go get dressed in pajamas for heaven's sake."

Aidan couldn't believe it. She thought she was finally returning to 1965. She must have somehow went to another world. First she somehow traveled to Diana's world, and now Nadia's? Would she ever be able to get back to her world?

Back to 1965

Nadia raced back to the hotel she was staying at. She had to return to 2010 as quickly as she could. Nadia had to stop Aidan and her evil ways before she completely destroyed Nadia's life back home.

As Nadia busted through her hotel room's door, she saw Chelsea sitting at the round table near the outdated television set. Nadia then realized that the girl must not be Chelsea. If everybody and everything about 2010 had changed into a 1965 form, the girl Nadia thought was Chelsea was actually Aidan's sister; not Nadia's.

"Hey," Nadia said to the girl.

"Hello Aidan; how was your day out in the big city?" The girl chuckled and gave Nadia friendly smile.

Nadia didn't know what to say. First off, she didn't know what to call the girl. It would sound too weird asking the Chelsea look alike what her name was. She was supposed to be Aidan, and Aidan would know her own sister's name. Nadia thought of a way to secretly figure out the girl's name without sounding like a complete idiot.

"Aidan, why aren't you answering me?" The girl asked looking at Nadia suspiciously.

"Better yet, what on Earth are you wearing? Trousers are for men, silly." Chelsea's look alike stood up and walked over to Nadia. She stared at Nadia's long brunette hair and pajamas. Nadia was wearing a Butler University VS. Duke University sweatshirt with checkered pajama pants. She must look pretty strange compared to what normal 1960 girls looked like.

"Why does that sweatshirt say '2010 championship game'" The look alike asked Nadia with an edge of suspicion in her voice.

"Uh . . . Well it is a long story. See um when . . ." Nadia tried to stammer out a lame excuse, but the look alike's piercing blue eyes stopped Nadia dead in her tracks.

"Who are you?" The look alike asked Nadia. "You've been acting insane lately. First you walk out of the bathroom wearing rags. Then you try convincing us your name is actually Diana. Then you mysteriously leave every day eventually coming back looking like you are in a daze. Mother tries to convince me you must have found a new friend or somebody you fancy but you cannot fool me! I know you aren't my sister. You may look just like her but I can see through your disguise. Where is Aidan? What have you done with her?" The girl glared at Nadia, who wore a bewildered expression.

"I know where your sister is." Nadia said. "She is in a different universe and a different time. I don't know how to find her; all I know is she is in New York City. The year is 2010."
