Look at what we are doing to this wonderful planet. Trash is everywhere. It is on the streets, at parks, outside schools, etc . . .

This past Thursday was Earth Day! Earth Day is a day designed to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth's environment. Whyville even celebrated Earth Day by having a globe hunt! If you found the pink circled globe with pink confetti on it, you received 100 pearls!

Let's interview some people about Earth Day in real life and on Whyville!

hailey311: How was your Earth Day?
kandy334: Pretty good.
watercan: It was very Earthy.
deeball: It was good.

hailey311: Did you do anything to help the Earth? If so, what?
kandy334: I turned off my lights and electronics for a few hours and went outside. I picked up trash.
watercan: Well my mom makes us do it, but for an hour we shut off all the lights in our house to conserve energy.
deeball: Yes, my church and I spent a few hours cleaning up trash around our town and recycling any plastic/aluminum/glass items that we found along side the road.

hailey311: Does your neighborhood do anything special for Earth Day?
kandy334: My neighborhood, no. Us personally, yes.
watercan: No 'cause our neighborhood is lame.
deeball: Well I already mentioned what my church does but I'm not sure what else others did in my neighborhood. I saw some people doing the same thing I was, and I noticed a few new trees planted in our community.

hailey311: What do you think about Global Warming?
kandy334: I think it's just people freaking out about the Earth warming up. The Earth goes through a process called Heating and Cooling, but humans are speeding up the process of Heating. It's still not bad to recycle and all that.
watercan: Well I can go on and on about Global Warming, but I think people need to realize that what they are doing now isn't really doing much. They actually need to do something.
deeball: I think it's slowly but surely affecting us and we need to do all we can in advance to try and save some trouble in the future.

hailey311: What would you say to people who think that Global Warming isn't a big issue?
kandy334: I would be talking to myself . . . I really don't think it's a big issue, but it's not small.
watercan: I wouldn't say anything, I would kick them.
deeball: It may not be a big issue now where we live, but if you look at other countries and polar regions they're greatly affected and it's just a short amount of time before it's us that will need the help so we need to do all we can to help the Earth!

hailey311: Last thoughts?
kandy334: Happy Earth Day!
watercan: I lubb Urff!
deeball: Hope everyone had a good Earth Day, KEEP OUR PLANET HEALTHY!

Thanks everyone! We celebrated our 40th Earth Day in 2010! Make sure you recycle!

Here I am going to fill up my reusable water bottle!
