"Today, you are you. That is truer than true. There is no one alive who is youer than you." -Dr.Seuss

Yes, Kailyn, I do remember those days, the ones clogged up somewhere in my mind. I remember when it was you, Sam, Kaitlyn and I. The days I still remember, without a single blur, took place five or six years ago. But, the thing is, I don't always wish to have those days back. Kailyn, I really don't.

We would always run around in the field that seem to extend forever at recess, acting like the kindergartners we were. Never stopping, though our surroundings grew quieter as we ran further back. Until finally, only the four of us were there, not a single motion appeared around us other than our small mouths, blabbing away about various subjects.

Although, now I realize the differences between all of us. We really weren't alike. I was a shy girl, always hiding in the darkened, gloomy shadows of young children scurrying about. But you, Kailyn and Sam and Kaitlyn, were quite different. You were so daring, you were yourself, so very talkative. Sometimes, I feel as if I wasn't being myself when I was with you. I tried to fit in with you. I was so quiet though, not hyper at all. And I was so very calm and relaxed, focused on nothing but my schoolwork. I was forcing myself to be a whole new person in order to make some new friends.

But, now, look at me. A whole new school, fifth grade, new teachers and new friends. I've grown much more mature, I've also gained five more years of knowledge. Now, that I've truly considered it, I'm perfect the way I am. I don't need to change a single thing about me. And I especially won't change who I am to make a new friend. I am who I am, and that will never change. Never. And I'm going to tell you one more thing; never change who you are, you are you, stay that way.

Kailyn, you were an awesome friend when it was just you and me playing together. You truly respected me for who I was, not for who I could be. But, when the time came for you, Sam, Kaitlyn and I to hang out, I just wasn't being me. I hope you can understand why I don't miss those days.

Since I started going to a new school, I've made plenty of new friends. So, how about we hear another inspirational quote from Dr.Seuss? This one's my favorite!

"We are all a little weird and life's a little weird and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love." -Dr.Seuss

Be yourself, someone out there is weird, like you, so, you're guaranteed to make a friend.

- Kerry
