Author's Note: Yes, another series. And once you read on for a bit, you're going to know exactly what it's about. I sent this in so early because I just couldn't wait -- I needed to get back into my little world!

I glared out the window. Life stunk. It wasn't even worth living for. I had no interests, no friends, no family, no anything. Especially since the terrible Shay-reign. That nasty girl and her boyfriend, David, had managed to turn their army into a huge one. They had taken over the world nearly ten years ago, and now I was stuck in this stupid room. My aunt Val, who had become one of them, came and fed me everyday. She still loved me, but she wouldn't help me out of this prison. Shay wanted me to turn back; she called me everyday for our little chat.

If anything, I would keep my mortality. You see, my name is Eric Brown, and my sister Kylie, was murdered ten years ago when I was six. Shay Fossal killed her brutally.

I remember every detail of that tragic night. I relive it in my mind twenty four seven. I fought with Kylie when I was one of those mutants. Kylie saved me by stabbing me with a gel pen. I'm the only one who knows about that, the cure, so that's why I'm locked up. I came back to normal, and fell asleep in her room. That's when Shay killed my sister for me to find her the next morning. My mother committed suicide two days later in grief, and my aunt Valery and my dad Alex, who left us when we were very little, had been chosen by Shay and turned into the undead.

Now the whole world was like that - undead. My heart was the only that was beating on the planet. This needed to be stopped long ago, but what could I, a then six year old boy, do? Now that I was sixteen, and stronger than ever, I could win. Possibly. But I had no backup, no allies. If I was to defeat them, it would have to be quick, simple. And I would have to attack the leader of them all - Shay.

I hadn't smiled since my mother died. I hadn't laughed since I had been turned into one of the demons. I hadn't been happy since Kylie's death. It had been ten long years of pain, regret, and sadness. Now, I could finally let go of all of that, just by seeing Shay and David's blood shed. That would be all it took. Their deaths. The hatred that ran down to my bones, rushed through my blood, and consumed my thoughts daily, would finally let go.

I planned my jail-break that night.

As usual, Shay called me at four thirty sharp. "Hi Shay." I grumbled.

"You just sound peachy!" She cackled through the line. "So, you know why I'm talking to you. Just get it over with; tell me your wish."

"I wish to stay alive. As I do everyday."

"Someday you'll give in."

"Will not." I told her. "I know what I live for. I know how I want to turn out. And becoming a freak like you isn't in mind."

"You know, even if you did stay alive, it wouldn't change anything. I killed Kylie a long time ago, Eric. She's not coming back. Let me know if you change your mind." The line went dead.

I glared at the receiver before slamming it down. I hated her. Dinner was served, and I ate it hastily. Aunt Val watched me. "Are you okay?" I mumbled my response under my breath. "Fine."

She sighed, picking up my now empty tray. She left the room and closed the door. I heard her turn the key in the lock. After the click, I went to bed. I would sleep on this tiny cot for the last time, hopefully. And then I would, for the first time in years, see and feel the outside world.

This would be such a rush. Sleep didn't come easily.
