Socks march up, pair by pair
In a laundry basket, up the stairs
One sock old, the other new
Sticking together, two by two

Carpeted with much dirt and dust
Yet something that will never rust
Gaining more holes over time
All stretched out, yet still mine

Losing socks over the years
I buy a new pair, one disappears
Wearing them out until they're torn
Those lovely socks, just worn and worn
