A sweet smile she shined the first time I met her
That smile, I believed was important
But before I could realize none of it was real
None of her smiles were to exist
A smile that simply faded as you grew upon her friendship

There was much to learn and much to know
About a girl hidden behind two glimmering green eyes
Her heart shattered
Her emotions thrown in the trash
A smile that simply faded as you grew upon her friendship

I chose to love and to listen
For she was something different than what I knew
She mystified me with everything she had to tell me
I remember her tears at lunch, her tears all at once
A smile that simply faded as you grew upon her friendship

Her words pierced my soul
Pushing me backwards 25 feet with every step
A staggering thought of such grief, such hate
Her words told me a story I needed to know
A smile that simply faded as you grew upon her friendship

Her words were real
Those words, stronger than the Earth
Those words taken from my shoulders
Steps to save a life,
Love, Listen, Learn.
