Moonlight coming through the window
on the night we let the truth slip out.
And I reminded you that I once loved you.
Well, I still do.

We looked for words we knew we'd never say
and, to this day, we feel their full effect.
We looked for ways to keep our whipcrack tongues in check
but a lover's pride is a stubborn lioness.

So keep me in mind, if nowhere else.
I'm only as strong as the faltering hope I hold.

Morning life bursts in through prison walls.
Dreams can only last so long.
All I see inside this veil of night
is your shape, fading like a sprite.
