This Giggler01, writing to you today to tell you about a teenager who is a part of Canadian history because of something that happened to him. He deserves mention here in Whyville because of some the topics being discussed lately. Here is his story....

Now, this happened somewhere in Canada; exactly where is not important. It was the first day of summer holidays, June 29th, 1999 and Jonathan was in the park where he stopped at the rest rooms. A group of teenage boys found him there that day.

One of the guys from this group told Jonathan to run, and when he didn't, he was attacked. Then he ran and hid between two houses where he was found and kicked several times in the head, with what is thought to have been steel-toed shoes.

Somehow he managed to crawl home where he slipped into a coma because his brain had swelled. The doctors told his parents that he most likely would not survive the summer. But guess what? He did.

Two years later, Jonathan is a teen. He lives his life as normally as possible now, even though he had to learn how to walk all over again. That is his story, but sadly enough, his attackers still run free because of the laws in Canada.

This story relates very good to Whyville currently. We pick on others each day for who they are. Does that make us any better or any worse then the attackers of Jonathan Womback? We're still bullies. Look at what the out come can be. We cannot wait for some thing severe such as this to arrive on Whyville.

This also shows some people that life doesn't only happen on Whyville, that we are humans, and awful things do happen in real life, no matter where we live. A lot of people blame certain groups, such as Americans, but that just isn't the case. It can happen to anyone.

This is Giggler01, and I am leaving you now with a word of advice, taken from the movie Men in Black: "A person is smart, but people are stupid". We won't ever be able to completely eliminate bullying, but you don't have to do it all yourself. Just eliminate the bully within you.

Thank you for your time.
