The year I learned my abc's and 123's
Could make friends with just a simple smile and hello
Learned about how to be polite and a good friend
Kindergarten taught me the basics

The year I learned how to make all kinds of friends
Talked to anyone and everyone in the school
Everyone liked me and there were no hard feelings
First grade taught me how to be outgoing.

The year I learned how to accept that someone liked me
Had the best friend of my entire life
and fell in love with him
Second grade taught me how to love

The year I learned how to cry true tears
My best friend had to repeat a grade and moved away, leaving me in pieces
Became shy and would never be the same again
Third grade taught me how to miss someone

The year I learned that everything would be okay
Was more in touch with the world around me
Made a new friend that I am still with today
Fourth grade was the year I learned how to get over things

The year I learned there are more people in the world
Had the most meaningful conversations with people
Was in a good crowd of friends
Fifth grade taught me how to be social again

The year I learned how to stand up for myself
Found out my newest friend had hated me
Just because my friend from second grade left her for me
Sixth grade taught me about betrayal

The year I learned that I hated myself
Changed my entire attitude and appearance
Started writing and revealing a life long secret
Seventh grade taught me how to become me

Right now I am finally learning about life
Found out what it is like to ride an emotional roller coaster
Now talking to my best friend from second grade again
Eighth grade is teaching me how to love again
