September 11 Followup

Hello everyone, I would like to do a follow-up on Giggler01's touching article, on the 6-month anniversary of September the 11 2001.

This was a sad day, not only in New York and the USA, but all over the world. I live in Canada, and it hit me hard. I fell asleep on Sept.10. I couldn't even imagine what would happen only the next day. I woke up, and my mom told me something strange was happening in New York, so I turned on the TV and sure enough, one of the towers of the World Trade Center was spewing black smoke into a clear blue sky. My first thought is that it was some awful accident, and after thought of all the people inside. Even more shocking was when i watched live the second plane hit the other tower. When i saw this, my stomach felt like it's bottom dropped out, and it felt like my legs were filled with lead.

At school that day, everyone was silent, except for a few people gasping at the sight they saw on the television screens. This is where I saw both towers collapse. I remember walking down the hall and seeing a girl crying, saying, "I'm so worried about him," and trying to fight back the tears.

Now at six months, I don't know what they are going to do! Should they rebuild the towers, or a huge memorial? I don't know, but I think that it should be in the hands of the victims' families. When I saw the lights at ground zero just a few nights ago, and the ones that are probably shining as I speak, it helps me and the world remember what happened that fair-seeming September day.

Now, I sit here wondering what goes on in Afghanistan, and hoping the fighting stops soon. Soldiers sent from my city are there. I just hope that through this horrific event some peace comes out.

So turn off those violent movies and take time to think about what happened to all those innocent people that had their lives stolen from them by a selfish act of cowardice.

This is yoshistar, saying so long and have a great day! ;-)

Hey Whyville this is Kisskiss7 here to talk about a issue that's been on my mind for the past couple of months....

Obviously the September 11th tragedy was a shock to everyone. I'm originally from New Jersey, so a lot of my family and friends live in the New York area. I was sitting in Health class like any other day when all of a sudden a gym teacher came running into our classroom urging my health teacher to turn on the T.V. And that's when I saw it: a plane running into the World Trade Center.

My whole body just froze... the first thought that came to my mind was where was my Uncle Bill, who was working construction in the buildings. I ran and called his house from school; even though it was a long distance call (ssshhh!), the phone is always just open to anyone, they don't even care, especially on that day -- my aunt kathy told me that my uncle stayed home that day, and urged me to calm down.

It turned out that I didn't lose my Uncle Bill, but he did lose his cousin, and my mom lost one of her best friends that she had known ever since high school. Both of them were firemen.

I prayed and prayed and prayed for the two of them... but then I realized, why was I praying just for them? I then began praying for everyone affected by the September 11th tragedy. Then I realized we all were, and so I began praying for the country... for the world.

So I want to let all of you Whyvillians know, my prayers are with you... if you lost a loved one, my prayers are with you... if you are still in shock from this attack, my prayers are with you... my prayers are always with you.

Hey, everyone. It's me, chilibean here once again to give you my opinion. I just read Giggler01's article about September 11th, and I wanted to add some stuff to it. Now, from the way I read this article, I got the impression that we are forgetting too much about this day, and that we are moving on too soon. This is not true. September 11th is very surreal to all of us. This means that we know it happened, and yet we can't grasp the idea that it really DID happen. This is why people are trying to move on. The President even asked us to try and live our normal lives, although that may be difficult for those who lost a loved one, and that's ok. It's ok to still sit down and cry about it, I know I do. But if we don't move on, we'll be constantly worrying about when the next thing is going to happen.

K, I think I'm done now. And if I read Giggler01's article and got the wrong impression, I apologize in advance. This was just the way I interpreted it.

This is chilibean, signing off.

I am here to talk about the subject of 9/11, the war on terrorism, and basically just our views on that. I interviewed 2 people. I asked three basic questions:

1. How do you feel about terrorism?
2. How did you feel on September 11th??
3. What do you think about the War Against Terrorism?

The first person I asked (grly2001) responded like so:

1. "The terrorists aren't nice people. They should be captured!"
2. "I felt sad about it. I was sorry for the families."
3. "The war is wrong but should be fought for the people who died!"

The second person I asked (SS4Life) responded like so:

1. "I think it's horrible... What else can you think?"
2. "I was shocked. Living in Canada, I don't know how it felt. I feel sorry for all the people involved and hope it never happens again ANYWHERE!"
3. "I guess terrorism has to stop and we're just doing whatever is takes to stop it and this is what it came to!"

And always remember, people say this War Against Terrorism is going to stop it, but WAR IS TERRORISM!! Thanks again guys! I'm out...
