I watch them tease,
And tear you apart,
Tears fill your eyes,
As well as your heart.

Clutching your books,
You pass on by,
Giving me a long hard look,
As I see the pain in your eyes.

Days pass on,
I take a look at my life,
My guilt grows strong,
As I ponder all your strife.

Maybe next time,
I will grow enough courage,
To stand up to them,
And help you in your time of discourage.

Maybe next time,
I'll risk losing my friends,
To give you one,
And your heart, I hope to mend.

Maybe next time,
I'll see the pain in your heart,
And help you out,
Before you depart.

Maybe next time,
I'll help those in need,
And learn a lesson from your cries,
To help the ones that need to be freed.
