I'm dying to remember, dear
How we used to be
Arms wrapped around each other
Whispering to me

I'd cry against your shoulder
But you lifted up my chin
Asking me why I was sad
And grasping at my skin

I hoped the day would never come
When you told me what I knew
You'd fallen into true love
And I finally broke in two

My own mistakes had cost me
As I looked into your eyes
I kissed your cheek, which I could tell
Caught you by surprise

My heart, I said, you broke, my love
Again, again, and again
There seems to be a pattern here
That, frankly, will never end

So this is why, my darling
Our relationship must die
I'll never be able to be with you
No matter how hard I try

I'm slowly moving on, don't worry
We'll both be happy as can be
But behind this shield I'm secretly hoping
That you will never forget me
