PANDEMIC

I woke up to my alarm blaring music. I slammed my hand over the snooze button, desperately wanting to get more sleep. I climbed out of bed, and got dressed. I did the usual morning routine: brushing my teeth, eating breakfast, doing stretches, etc. My phone rang while I was doing my morning yoga, it was Robert. I hesitated, then sat cross-legged on my yoga mat and answered the phone.

"Hello?" I answered.

"Hey beautiful," Robert answered. I blushed, because I was definitely not used to him saying things like that. "What are you up to today?"

"Uh, school like everyone else?" I said with a twist of sarcasm.

"Oh, you didn't hear? There isn't any school today silly. It was on the news, the electric in the school went haywire, so it's a 3 day weekend!" He replied in excitement. I shrugged, embarrassed, because if Robert wouldn't have called to tell me that, I would have shown up like an idiot.

"Ah, okay. So do you want to do something?" I asked.

"Yeah! That's my main reason for calling. Lets go to a movie. I'll pick you up at 5." I agreed, and we hung up the phone. What to do until 5p.m, I thought. I went about my chores, I washed the dishes, vacuumed the floors, dusted my room, made my bed, and fed the dog. Then I decided to hop into the shower, since I forgot to take one last night. When I got out, I dried my hair and brushed it, when my phone rang again. It was my best friend Rigel.

"Hello?" I asked nervously.

"Hey Aimee! Robert invited me and Leon to go on a double date with you two at the movies. I just wanted to confirm with you that it wasn't like a joke or something. Robert's not dating you as a joke is he? We all know he always messed with you." She explained.

"Yeah, I don't think it's a joke. If it is, he's really putting way too much effort in. Plus, he knows my friends would kill him if he was joking. If you look back on his behavior towards me, he has always kinda seemed like he liked me. I just want to give it a shot since I don't know if I do like him or not. Y'know?"

"I agree. Okay! We'll see you at 5. Love ya!" Then I heard the click that ended the call. I looked at the clock on my phone, 1p.m. I sighed, and grabbed Kitson's leash. Kitson was my 1 year old Siberian husky. He was white, with gray patches on his back and around his eyes, making him look like a raccoon. His ears were always right up in the air, and he sported a black weaved collar. His eyes were a piercing blue, and he was one of my best friends. Kitson always lied on my bed at night, and listened to me rant. He's such a loving dog. I'm really glad my mom got me Kitson for my birthday this year.

When Kitson heard the cling of the leash, he ran to me immediately. He sat and perked his head to the side, and I hooked the leash to his collar. I took Kitson around town, along the lake, and through the park. It was about a mile or two walk, and Kitson really enjoyed it. By the time we returned, it was 3p.m. I decided to next plop down on my bed and watch T.V. in my room. Kitson jumped on my bed and nestled next to me. I wrapped my blanket around the both of us, and put on an old episode of "Hey Arnold!" from the Netflix. We watched almost a whole season of the show together until my phone dinged. It was a text from Robert saying, 'On my way, be ready beautiful!' I ran to the bathroom and primped myself, and for some reason, I felt the butterflies infiltrated my stomach, and I felt very nervous for my first 'date' with Robert.

Why was I so nervous? What was this feeling? I'd never felt like this before . . . What was I feeling?
