I have always had problems growing out my hair. My hair is very thin, and grows slowly compared to the average teenage girl. The average hair growth is about half an inch every month. My hair used to grow about a quarter of an inch a month at most. The growth rate of my hair just recently started accelerating with these few tricks that I learned online. Even my friends are noticing my hair is looking longer, thicker, and shinier than ever, and soon your hair can too! All you have to do is follow these simple tricks.

First let's straighten out one thing. Trimming your hair every two weeks will NOT help your hair grow out. That is nothing but a myth. If you want your hair to grow long, cutting it shorter won't help will it? The main reason why people believe in this myth, is because they believe it will get rid of split ends. It's natural to have a few split ends. Everyone gets them once in a while! You won't even need to worry about that anymore. I will show you how to prevent from getting split ends.

What's better than a nice shower to help start out your day? First you must prepare your hair for the shower. Take a wide toothed comb and start combing out the tangles in your hair. Starting from the ends of your hair, and working your way up. By combing from the ends and working your way up, you are decreasing the chance of knotting your hair more than it already may be. This way it is easier to comb out your hair, and prevents split ends. After this you want to use the pads of your fingers to massage your scalp for a minute. This will help loosen up the dirt in your hair to prepare you for your shower, and help bring circulation to your head, which is crucial for hair growth.

The type of shampoo you use may also depend on the results of your hair. I actually use horse shampoo. Sounds weird right? Actually it is safe for humans, and I know many people who use horse shampoo. The horse shampoo I use has olive oil and coconut oil in it, which are big ingredients that can help with hair growth. Many of the people who use horse shampoo get amazing results, and notice a difference in their hair growth.

While shampooing your hair, you want to squeeze a quarter-sized amount of shampoo into your palm. It is not necessary to use any more than that. Rub it between your hands and evenly disperse it onto your scalp. After this you may begin massaging the shampoo into your scalp and working it in. You don't need to apply shampoo to the shaft of your hair. This will end up stripping your hair of its natural oils. Rinse your hair off with warm water. Take a good conditioner and apply it from mid-shaft of your hair to the tips of your hair. Let it sit in your hair for a while. It would be the perfect time to do other shower activities like shaving, while the conditioner sits in your hair. Then you may rinse your hair out thoroughly, and squeeze any excess water out of your hair. Do a final rinse using cold water to help give your hair that extra shine that you want.

The hair drying process may take a long time, but sometimes we're in a rush to get somewhere important! Blow-drying your hair is not the best answer to choose if you want to keep your hair healthy. If you absolutely must do so, towel-dry your hair as much as possible then blow-dry your hair on the coolest setting you have. If you flip your hair over and blow-dry your hair upside down, this will give your hair more volume, and it blow-dries quicker. If you're not in a rush, dry your hair with a towel as much as you can, then just let your hair air-dry. Air-drying your hair means letting it dry on its own.

Don't brush your hair when it's wet. Your hair is more delicate when wet, therefore your hair will break off and cause split ends. It is okay to COMB your hair when wet though. Be sure to use a wide-toothed comb to prevent breakage. Just like you did before, you should comb your hair from the tips and working your way up. This should always be how you comb/brush your hair. It is best to keep your hair up as much as possible throughout the day. It helps prevent your hair from being damaged. A good leave-in conditioner will also work wonders on your hair.

Once a day you want to brush your hair upside with a boar-bristled brush. This will help bring the natural oils from your roots to your tips, and make your hair softer. Massaging your scalp for a minute a couple times throughout the day will help increase circulation in your head to make your hair grow faster. Taking vitamins like Biotin will also help accelerate your hair growth.

Once a week get some coconut oil, and apply it to your hair from root to tip at nighttime before bed. Be sure to concentrate on the tips of your hair where it is most dry. Tie your hair up in a bun, put a towel over your pillow so it doesn't get wet, then go to bed. Wake up in the morning and wash it off. On the other days of the week go to sleep in a simple braid. This will protect your hair from knotting up while sleeping, and any other ways you could possibly bring damage to your hair overnight.

You wont exactly get mermaid hair with the snap of your fingers. It takes time to achieve such long beautiful hair. Until then, the best thing you can do is keep your hair strong and healthy, which you can do by following some of the tips I showed you. My hair is only a couple inches past my shoulder, but it's the longest it has been in years. I promise you that you will notice a difference with in a little bit of time. Enjoy your gorgeous, soft, shiny, long, and healthy new hair! Good luck!
