First off, I'd like to say that "The Lonely Hearts Club" is an amazing book. It's full of drama, romance, and tons of girls just having fun and finding themselves.

When Penny Lane, named after the famous Beatles song "Penny Lane", finds her boyfriend cheating on her, she decides to swear off boys forever. I mean, they've only caused her trouble so far. Penny gets inspiration for this idea off a poster from an old Beatles concert. They had performed at The Lonely Hearts Club Bar. She makes the decision to swear off boys, and just when she thinks the trouble had ended, it really begins.

Highlights of this Book:

There is a perfect balance between romance, drama, and funny parts.

It's full of music references!

The perfect guide on how to swear off boys.

Sore Spots:

If you're under the age of 13, there might be some content that you can get uncomfortable with. So be careful readers!

Minor language, but most modern day books have something in it that we don't like.

How I Reacted to this Book Personally:

Well, for one thing, I can totally see where Penny is coming from. I've been cheated on PLENTY of times. It's something that happens. But I can relate to her idea of no dating, because for the most part, I believe that high school is a time for education and self discovery. Not relationship 101. While I do currently have a boyfriend, (6 1/2 months!) I'm very cautious about how close to him I get.

Overall Rating:

7 out of 10

Keep reading for more great reads!
