I didn't ask for the hate to be washed away
By the rivers of your tears
I didn't ask for you to stick on a mask
And hide from all your fears

If it were up to me
I'd hold you in my arms
Hold you peacefully
Rest until morning

I know someday it'll crack and
Your identity will be revealed
You'd sell them out just to keep on
Hiding how you really feel

If it were up to me
I'd back it up
Go back to the times
When we knew each other

You can run into the distance
Like there's no tomorrow
But I can see you running
Away from all the sorrow

If you were with me now
I'd let you go
A free man
No longer in hiding

You don't have to hide and run
Because they'll catch you soon
Until then just stand there and try
To jump over the moon

I know it's hard
But it's only downhill
Once you've made it over
The mountain

You can keep pretending to be
That something you're not
Because inside your body you left
Your soul to rot
