History of the Times (Part 2)

Giggler01
Times Writer

Na Na Na, Hey Hey Hey Good Bye! Oh, um, err... I mean hello. Well, I wanted to continue with my mini-series about the Times. (Start reading with last week's article!) In this entry, I would like to talk about the different contests that have been in the Times. You may not realize it, but there have quite a few!

The first contest held was a building contest. You had to design a room to your house. The prize? 100 clams. The winner? Sahuboy. Voters even got ten clams for voting, and making their opinions count. Why don't we get stuff like that anymore?

The next contest was held shortly after, within only a few months. It was a contest for the best face. It was still done by a voting system, and Polygirl was the winner, although there were only nine contestants!

The first contest that I think citizens will recognize was the Twister Fish Contest. It was the start of the Whyville Gallery, thanks to Shelly1! Contestants had to enter a drawing of what they thought the Twister Fish looked like. One way to show that this was a major contest for Whyvillians is that more then 700 votes were cast! The People's Choice Award went to Kelly, and Shelly1's Choice Award went to Peeves. Each winner received 100 clams.

The next major contest was my personal favorite. It was the Whyville Genisis Contest. It was inspired by an article written by Kelly called "How City Hall Found Whyville". Contestants were asked to write a story about how Whyville was started. It included lots of stories that included pictures. Lily2000 won the People's Choice award, and Peeves again got the Editor's Choice Award. Guess what they got as a prize! A trophy and 100 clams (sounds a bit familiar, hey?).

The most recent major contest was the "My Day in Whyville" Contest. It was inspired by an article by Biscuit. You had to tell the story of what you usually do in Whyville. This contest had over twenty entries! The winner was Nicit, who won a trophy and 200 clams! That was pretty cool.

So anyway, this is Giggler01, getting kicked off the computer. I am hoping to write a few more articles in this mini-series. Until next time, I can finally say it right: "Na Na Na, Hey Hey Hey Good Bye!"
