Rhythmic sounds of wind chimes cut through the frigid air
Heavy clouds closing in as the breeze rips through my hair
Feet resting in a puddle, where the mud settles to stay
We all slow down as the sky turns gray

Time slides by as if it's the interest on our loans
Debt creeps up because the nation's lost control
Gas prices soaring and we're forced to walk a narrow path
Somber children reach for hands 'cause they want to go back

Achromatic scenery lulls us into a sleeplike trance
Haggard eyes hold on like we stand a fighting chance
Here's to the world where the rich always win
The poor have to scrape up what's left for them

Extravagance and bliss gallantly fall to the wealthy feet
As the lower classes work just to provide dinner for three
What's sick is we know they've got money to spare
Yet our elders in hospice can barely afford healthcare

Here we are begging to wash these worries down the sink
But it won't happen in a world where paper runs a country
The shadows consume us as we all part ways
But we all slow down as the sky turns gray
