I fell
for your enigma like
a child
falls for a bad magician
you filled my sight
with smoke and
mirrors
and lost me
in a maze
of all your different
images
a criminal sketch-artist
would come up with
a different face
every time
you lied
twisting truth like
a con
you lay down the law
like a congressman
rule like a president
and pass
judgement
like you were born in robes
you do not care to
separate
your power
fairness is a word
for people who can't tan
but pride,
pride to you will never
be simply
a family of lions
they could never be enough
to satisfy an ego
and yet-
they curl, purring,
kneading,
tame at the foot of your mind
and you do not care
to separate me
from my fascination.
