He stands outside the glass door
Hearing his new-born angel weep
Bloody and wrapped in a tight embrace
Of her mother's as she falls asleep

All the things he didn't say
All of which he should've said
But he didn't and now she's dead
He only wishes it was him instead

Surgeons shove away the father
But he can't abandon her side
He knows he should be weeping
But his brain just won't abide

All the things he didn't say
All of which he should've said
But he didn't and now she's dead
He only wishes it was him instead

His woman's eyes fall into slumber
"Oh, give her back to me"
Don't let her turn into a number
"Please, just set her free"

All the things he didn't say
All of which he should've said
But he didn't and now she's dead
He only wishes it was him instead
