Two gold coins drop from your fingers
Into the palm of my hand . . .
Two gold coins resting together,
One bright and the other bland
I compare you and I to these gold coins,
We're as close as they are at rest
You, of course, are as brilliant as the bright
I am as boring as the other expressed
Your glow caught my eye and I couldn't help
But stare admiringly . . .
Somehow, I caught your eye before -
What is it in me that you see?
I am not the prettiest gold coin,
With my scratches and spots and flaws . . .
I can't even compare to the fantastic perfections
You have that I saw
You are too brilliant to be
With someone so gray . . .
We're so much like the two gold coins
You gave to me that day
