They say that salt -
Mere salt -
Can heal.

Soft blood
Trickles down my face.
Pursed lips,
To avoid the taste;
With every drop is a memory -
Equally devastating.
Thrashings of the mind;
The tender -
Tissues,
Scarred.

I'm damaged.
Throbbing, stinging flesh
My body, my mind,
Undeserving.

Salt can heal;
But, it can't heal me.
