I wince, cowering
into the corner,
waiting for the next blow.
This one should do it
take me to a place
where nothing is real.

A dreamland.

I can hear the rage in it's voice
as it yells at me, looking down
knowing that I'm not good enough.

Who is this monster?
It has his eyes . . .

It's anger surges through it,
hot, burning, terrifying.

A fist, pulled back,
ready to swing.

I don't flinch.

I welcome it, the darkness,
the dreamland.
Anything is better than this.

I open my eyes, familiar signs
surrounding me.

Welcome, to a land with no freedom.
