PANDEMIC
She returns for a vicious battle
at twilight.
I crave her presence to be at peace,
let the thoughts flow
let my head blow
not a single sound.
with an exception--
her silence deafens me.
do I love her?
I can't take her piercing screams.
should I let her be?
maybe she will never return.
do I know?
I shall win this internal war.

She allows the tears to stream
at midnight
without a soul around.
I hear her sob.
she is all I have, all I need.
the sun comes up,
she is gone.

The day goes on.
I am untroubled
until . . .
she creeps back in me
at dawn.
