Protect Your Email
Hey, this is my first article, so here it goes...
Hackers, why are they here? Who wants them? OK, so some people think that hackers make for good conversation, but I don't think so. Why would someone think that it is amusing to get hard earned clams stolen? How is it funny that newbies come on Whyville and get their accounts stolen? This is actually a very stupid thing to think. I wish that people would stop thinking that it is a laughing matter and get real! I mean sure, you think it is amusing that something happened to them and not you.
I am not a hacker and never plan to be, but there are other ways to get on your account without your password. Here are some ways that you can stop people from getting on your account and stealing your clams and face parts.
- Easiest one, DONT GIVE OUT YOUR PASSWORD TO ANYONE, EVEN IF THEY SAY THEY CAN RAISE YOUR SALARY AND GIVE YOU A MAKEOVER, IT DOESNT MATTER.
- Most people don't think of this one, but if you give out your email password, say your account is email@example.com. (it's not actually an address so don't click on it) and you give out your password to that, they can go on that account and get Whyville to send your Whyville password to that address, and hack from there.
Editor's Note: Giving out your email address is a *ton* more dangerous than giving out your Whyville password! There are so many horrible things that can go wrong with that! I hate to be cliche, but just say no!!!
- Be smart, think twice before giving out your password
- If someone tells you that they are a city worker, look them up and if they look like any ordinary person, report them.
I leave you with one more thought:
Keep safe and don't slip up, DONT EVEN TELL YOUR HUSBAND/WIFE YOUR PASSWORD.
