In a bright high school hallway
where nobody would suspect,
a ghost of a girl floats around.

Drifting silently, never awake
hoping, wishing, praying, unfeeling.
It's tiring and painful, trying not to scream.

This ghost of a girl goes from
class to class.
Nobody knows that she's there.

She tried to speak, but nobody hears.
She tells herself
that it doesn't matter, but,
way deep down I know
she is shattered.

There is seemingly nothing
that she can do
so this ghost of a girl,
floats through.

Days begin, and day's end too
but this ghost of a girl doesn't notice.
Days marked by when her head
can finally stop spinning
and welcome that darkness that
tries to pull her under.

It's the same old thing,
every day.
Go one way, the other,
go every which way.

Did you know
that a ghost can get dizzy?
She does, her head whirls
until finally! At last,
she takes a deep breathe
allows her body to collapse.

The darkness has swallowed her whole,
this ghost of a girl is no more.
