I travel a lot for work. It is one of the perks of my job. I get to fly across the country multiple times during the year. Flying has a lot of good parts and bad parts. Most people only focus on the bad parts. And one of the worst parts is just getting through security.

Everyone is always in a hurry. Everyone always has to be first. No one can smile or say "Please" or "Thank you". It is really hard to stay positive in the security line.

And yet, there seems to always be at least 1 person smiling. The friendly TSA agent. The person who has the job of keeping us all safe. Whether they are checking your ID before you go through, or scanning your bags, they are doing everything they can to make sure no harm comes to you.

I was shocked to learn about the recent shooting at LAX. I fly through LAX almost monthly. It's weird to think that just a few days ago, someone came into there shooting. And not at random people, but specifically targeting TSA agents.

TSA agents work so hard. The guy that was killed had just moved positions to be at the front of the airport. I can't imagine the pain his family is now going through.

So today, when I went through security, I put a smile on my face. I greeted every worker there. I said "Please" and "Thank you". And when I was done, I turned back around, taking a few moments to just let them know how much I appreciate everything they do.

The next time you are at an airport, remember the TSA agents who are there to keep you safe. Their job is hard, long, tiring and thankless. So it's the least we can do!
