Hey, Whyville, it's chilibean! Now, I was just reading the Times when I came across an article by SimGirl about the war in Israel. I've seen a lot of articles similar to this one. "Why can't they see that they are hurting not only their enemy, but themselves?" The truth is, they just can't.

My sister told me about an article she read, in which they interviewed an Israeli girl and a Palestinian girl, who were both about the same age. One said, referring to the other group, and I quote, "It is just like putting animals to sleep." They always see the others as animals. It doesn't matter whether they are killing men, women, or children, they are all evil. If a Palestinian walked into an Israeli school and blew it up, it wouldn't matter to many Palestinians. And it's the same if the situation were switched.

And then there is the issue of the suicide bombers. This is a quote from SimGirl's article: "I know about the suicide bombers, and how now the Israelis are fighting back, but is it all worth it? Really, is this war worth all these casualties?" To them, it is worth it. They feel that if they die for their people, they will immediately go to heaven for doing what they did.

There is also the deal with fighting over this land. Well, you see, in 1947 this land belonged to the Palestinians. It was then taken away by the United Nations so the Israelis could have their own land. Later, after the Seven Days' War in 1967, the land was split in parts, most for the Israelis, and parts for the Palestinians. Now, depending on who you talk to, some people want to just maintain the way it is, and some want the entire land back for their side.

Also, this war hasn't just started now. Oh, no. This has been going on for a VERY long time.

Finally, I would like to say that I feel that we will never get rid of racism. At least not in our lifetime. And please, don't feel that the Israelis and Palestinians don't have any love and are very cold hearted. Lets just say they are "confused" about the way the other half is.

I better go. I have to go finish reading "Animal Farm" (a really good book, you should read it!). Maybe I'll write a review on it.
