Sitting on the windowsill
I wonder to myself
How we got in this position
I turn my attention to a shelf

I stare with such envy
Of the new girl in school
Whom she'd gladly left me for
To trust her I'd been a fool

The picture of she and I
And how I'd loved her so
I'd trusted her with all my heart
And thought our friendship was to grow

Now I see the world differently
And I don't know me anymore
Sometimes I think that I knew her
But to our friendship we'd both sworn

We told the other we'd never leave them
Then we'd walk off, hand-in-hand
Now I'm lying on the cold, hard ground
While she's with new friends, feeling grand

I'll never trust again, I don't think
Now we've both had our fun
I know now The Script has it right
Because hearts really don't break even.
