PANDEMIC
You fought long and hard
Thought you'd win the battle
But you could not
You were bruised and burned
Scorched and scraped
Tortured.

"You have six months to live"
Two months later you passed
You took your final breath
Your heart stopped for good
Never to beat again
Never.

You had a heart 5x too large
Always by your friend's side
You didn't deserve to die
You deserved to live
Live a happy life
But you didn't.

You are now up in Heaven
Out of that rickety hospital bed
Your cries for help were answered
Your suffering came to a halt
You were sent to the best place that exists
Heaven.

Author's Note: This poem is dedicated to my parent's friend Jeff who passed away from cancer on 1/24/14. R.I.P. Jeff.
