We were alone together
Caught in the web of this endless endeavor
We found ourselves unified by isolation
And happy through mutual devastation
With empty arms we held one another
Content with our temporary forever
We shielded ourselves with insecurity
Being made a meal by depression's ceaseless eating
The spiders scrutinized us without understanding
The impact of outsiders colliding
We built a wall for protection
Where we were perfected by imperfection
But as the storms grew more aggressive
You starting becoming less protective
You watched as they picked us apart with their judgment
You faced your depression with hopeless resentment
You let your shield clatter to the floor
And forever ceased to exist anymore
My empty arms hugged my shaking frame
As I feel so damn stupid and burn with shame
Isolated completely in my time of need
Still scarcely believing you really did the awful deed
When caught, you asked the spider for a quick finish
And it ate you as my respect for you diminished
My throbbing heart slowly turned to stone
As I realized you willingly left me all alone
