Author's Note: I wrote this poem for a friend. I was trying to explain to them that you don't have to be perfect to help someone, you just have be there when it counts. No one expects angels, but everyone loves a firefly.

I stumble in this dark, cold world
Unfurl wings, you fly
I am trapped; my soul sold and rubbled long ago
Yet, you are loyal at my side

You are the firefly to my creation
Without you I'd not only falter, but fall
Your searing intrinsic light is like no other
And the clarity of it all

You are not an angel
You are a firefly
A luminescence that diminishes and goes out
But always shines again

And we know you for the good;
Something all of us want to capture, but can't hold forever
Something all of us want to follow, but can't see long enough
Because in darkness, you mend
