You swept me off my feet as I was falling to my knees
you showed me what it was like to feel alive
and now I'm standing here,
missing you my dear, playing like I'm doing just fine

I'm the Princess of Disguise

Turn around, look me in the eye
do you see the damage?
Put your arms around me now and I'll shove you back,
deny your gentle embrace and the sickly smile on your face
there won't be a repeat of what we had.

Put a mask on me now, I glance in the mirror
there's not a single trace of who I was before
all the pain I have endured, it's made me strong
it's made me sure but I can hide for just a while

I'm the Princess of Disguise

Smile for the camera, posing with my friends
Make a crazy face and laugh a lot,
pretend the night will never end.
Knowing you're not there
brings an ache to my heart
but I pretend that I don't care that we're apart.

Place a mask on my eyes and I'll plaster on a smile
don't you know, I'm the Princess of Disguise?
I can hold it up for days, assuring I'm no big disgrace
but once I'm home, I break down and hold myself tight

There's so much heartache
so much pain
It's like I'm standing in the rain
a thundercloud is above my head
and I'm taking ragged breaths
I can't believe it's happened to me
You said forever and I believed
But now I know I was played
and I don't wanna live this way

I place a mask over my face,
fix my hair and walk away from the life I had before.
I'm ready to endure what is to come with a smile
no turning back, though I won't deny.
You know me well, but I'm the Princess of Disguise.

I won't deny it.
I'm not going to lie.
I'm the Princess of Disguise.
