Melted Crayon Ornaments

I really enjoy the holidays and decorating. One of my favorite things to do is to make ornaments for my family and friends. I saw this tutorial the other day and wanted to share because it looks really cool. I haven't had a chance to try it yet myself, so I can't say how easy it is or if it turns out as good as the pictures below. But I wanted to share with all of you! Hopefully one of you can try it this week and share your pictures in the next issue.

Clear Glass Ornaments (do not buy plastic as they may melt)
Blow Dryer
Newspaper or protective plastic for your table
X-acto or Craft Knife
Embellishments (such as glitter, ribbon, stickers, etc)

Step 1

To start, cover your work area with the protective plastic or newspaper.

Step 2

Remove the paper from around the crayons with the x-acto knife.

Step 3

Remove the top of the ornament. Break the crayons into small pieces and put into the open top of the ornament. Put about 3-4 colors in at a time. Choose your favorite colors and experiment with different combinations!

Step 4

Using your hair dryer on the highest setting, melt the crayons inside the ornament. Twirl the ornament around in your hand as the crayons melt, creating different shapes and lines. Be careful not to hold on to the same spot too long as the ornament will get hot. When you get the ornament to your desired look, shake out any remaining crayons.

Step 5

Put the top of the ornament back on, add your embellishments, and hang it on your tree with pride!

Here are a few pictures I found of this project.
