I see life in your withering arms. Thousands of days breathe through your narrow veins, yet you still take in the flowing streams. Shallow ponds form on your skin, and create new versions of life. Galaxies emerge in new forms as if begging you to breathe. I have experienced love and forgiveness in your lifetime and taken responsibilities unimaginable before. Your presence makes me feel less alone. Species laid out between us, yet both of us still live. The sun needs a recipient to its warm embrace, so you cannot die. With all of your years, now is not the time to give up. I will hug you from afar. You are not alone, friend. The neighbor dog sees your extended arms welcoming barks and smiles. The little girl grows just as you have. I take pride in your life. Do not leave as quickly as you arrived. This is not about bargain, but attachment and loyalty. Life was released from you as a new beginning. The air thanks you for your contribution to the world, and so do I darling. Do you remember me measuring your height as if you were a toddler? You are my pride. Worlds are created through you. I found hope through your open limbs. A sickly girl found reassurance that if you could grow, so could she. I found perseverance, beauty, and soul. Now is not the time to shrivel. The world has only just awakened. The sun has only just received your contribution. Open your arms to the dawn. Take in the words of the wind. Spread yourself out and embrace life. Now is not the time to leave, you have only just begun living.

Author's Note: The writing prompt for this was: "A houseplant is dying. Tell it why it needs to live." I thought this prompt not relevant to plants only, but people too.
